  2. What is a fact? • A fact is something that can be proven; something that is, without a doubt, true • Example: My TV is 46 inches.

  3. What is an opinion? • An opinion is something that cannot be proven. It is something that one thinks or believes. • Example: My TV is big.

  4. Can you tell the difference? • The grass is too tall. It needs to be cut. • Opinion- this is what someone thinks or believes to be true. It can’t be proven.

  5. Can you tell the difference? • The grass is 4 inches tall, and it goes between my toes. • Fact- this can be proven—we can measure the grass and see it between the toes.

  6. Read the following: Today, many hubcaps are made of plastic, but not so long ago, they were made from stampede metal. These earlier hubcaps featured all kinds of designs. Wreaths, emblems, crests, spokes and geometric patterns were popular. The beautiful designs were very eye catching, and some hubcap designers became quite well known. Today, these hubcaps of the past are collectors’ items. Some are exhibited in hubcap museums; others are part of private collections.
