Return Analysis Between January 2015 and continuing through the year, FTB will be piloting the new return analysis process. As with our other releases for the project, we are taking a cautious approach which we call “crawl, walk, run”. The new validation process will improve the accuracy of our validation and our notices by: Reducing manual intervention – system will validate math calculations Creating an automated schedule to return check (Ex. Schedule CA to return) Sending out improved notices to our customers
Return Analysis Notice of Tax Return Change beginning summer of 2015 • This notice will replace the old Return Information Notice. • It is more user friendly. • The notice format and content changes are based on the feedback we received from focus groups.

BE e-file Requirement Business e-file Requirement Waiver Process Requirement – Effective January 2015, business entities must e-file if their return is prepared using tax preparation software. Waiver Provision – Proposed Law includes a waiver provision to the e-file requirement for that specific year’s return. Waiver Application – FTB will have a paperless waiver form on our website that will be completed and submitted online.
541 Fiduciary e-file • First year of 541 e-file was a BIG success • 113,000 returns e-filed so far this year – This represents 30% of total 541 filings • Thanks to the practitioner community for embracing 541 e-file – You make it happen!
