Diligently Seek Him • Heb 11:6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. • He that cometh to God (approaches, fellowship) • Faith (believing He is just as He said) • Rewards those who do not quit but diligently seek Him unto the end of their lives • God’s approval: 2, 4, 5, 6 • Man’s mind:1, 3 and obedience 4-5

Diligently Seek Him • Heb 11:6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. • Casually, Occasionally, Sporadically Seek Him • Diligence - to use speed, make effort, be prompt or earnest (exerting maximum energy) • Not to earn our salvation: Luke 17:10 • But in appreciation for the grace of God • We seek Him (not His help in times of need)

  3. 2 Peter 1 • 5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; • 10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: • 15 ...I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. • Peter wanted to remind them in a way that they would remember after he was gone. • 12 Wherefore I will not be negligent...

  4. Understand Diligently Seeking: • A College Degree: All night study session • A Girl: write, read, call, visit… • A Career: expensive school, long hours, give up social life, relocate… • A Championship: exercise, eat, sleep, train… • Each involves: Sacrifice, Activity, and Continual Dedication until the goal is reached

  5. I Haven’t Done Enough • 2 Tim 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. • 1 Thess 5:17 Pray without ceasing. • 1 Cor 16:2 ...let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him,… • 1 Peter 1:16 ...Be ye holy; for I am holy. • Matt. 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

  6. Let Us Continue • Heb 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. • Israel left Egypt but did not reach the promise land • Hebrews left Judaism, but they did not reach heaven • We have left denominations, worldliness, superstitions, and more, but we have not reached our goal yet • Diligently seeking God is more than perfect attendance, daily study, frequent prayer, fervent singing, and generous giving…

  7. Not Just What We Do, But How We Do It, And Why We Do It • We do what we do because God said it • We do what we do with appreciation • We give all we can realizing it is never enough • We live the life of faith diligently seeking God above all things in the earth and beyond it • Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
