IHL Admission Requirements • Complete the College Prep Curriculum (CPC) with a minimum 3.2 high school grade point average (GPA) on the CPC; OR • Complete the CPC with a minimum 2.5 high school GPA or a class rank in the top 50 percent and a score of 16 or higher on the ACT* (Composite); OR • Complete the CPC with a minimum 2.0 high school GPA on the CPC and a score of 18 or higher on the ACT* (Composite); OR • Satisfy the NCAA standards for student-athletes who are “full-qualifiers” under Division I guidelines. • *In lieu of the ACT scores, students may submit equivalent SAT scores.

IHL2012 Admission Requirements • What has changed in the requirements for admission to • a public university? • The Carnegie units within the College Preparatory Curriculum • (CPC) have increased from 15 ½ Carnegie units to • 19 1/2 Carnegie units. • One additional unit each in mathematics, science, • and social studies has been added; one unit in the arts • has been added. • The ½ unit in Computer Application has been added to • the Pre-high school units

10. IHL Summer Developmental Program • Students who do not meet the criteria for regular admission are nonetheless eligible for admission. • Such students must participate, however, in an on-campus placement process at the university of their choice. • The process will determine whether the student may be enrolled in regular freshman-level courses in the Fall semester or required to enroll in the summer semester with mandatory participation in the Summer Developmental Program. • Successful completion of the Summer Developmental Program entitles the student to continued enrollment in the fall semester at the university of his or her choice.

IHL Summer Developmental Program Grant (SDPG) • Must be a legal resident of the State of Mississippi • Under the age of 21 at the time of application • Must not have earned 24 or more credit hours at a college or university • Must have been accepted into the Summer Developmental Program (first time attendee) at an eligible Mississippi institution • Must be eligible to receive federal student financial aid and demonstrate financial need • Must complete the online application and submit all supporting documentation by the deadline.

12. IHL Admissions Application Process

Dual Enrollment • Dual enrollment course - a post-secondary level course offered by a state institution of higher learning or community or junior college, which, upon successful completion, qualifies for academic credit in both the post-secondary institution and the public high school. • Local school boards of public school districts and the Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning are authorized to establish dual enrollment programs. • High school students meeting the requirements prescribed in section (37-15-37; 37-15-38) may enroll at an institution of higher education in Mississippi while they are still attending high school and enrolled in high school courses, with tuition and costs to be paid by grants, foundations or other private sources.

14. Academic Common Market The purpose of the Academic Common Market (ACM) is to share between states specified academic degree programs located at southern public colleges and universities. This is accomplished through an exchange of students across borders at in-state rates. Specific eligibility requirements must be met. The student must: • live in a state that is a member of the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB); and • major in a degree program that is not available in their home state. Mississippi Resident Tuition Assistance (MTAG) • Up to $500/year for freshmen and sophomores • Up to $1,000/year for juniors and seniors • Not to exceed eight semesters of eligibility total, regardless of the dollar amount received by an individual student • Cumulative 2.5 high school GPA • 15 ACT (national testing) or 720 SAT • Full-time student at an eligible Mississippi institution • Mississippi resident (one year) • Deadline Date: September 15

17. Higher Education Legislative Plan for Needy Students (HELP) • Not to exceed tuition and required fees at a public institution • Not to exceed ten semesters of eligibility total, regardless of dollar amount received by an individual student • Cumulative 2.5 high school GPA • 20 ACT (national testing) • Able to demonstrate financial need • Two-year average adjusted gross income of $36,500 or less • Specific high-school core curriculum • Mississippi resident (two years) • Full-time Student at an eligible Mississippi institution • Deadline Date: March 31 http://www.mississippi.edu/pg2c/glomer/upload_repo/files/HELP_core_reqs.pdf

Mississippi Eminent Scholars Grant (MESG) • Up to $2,500/year, not to exceed tuition and required fees • Not to exceed eight semesters of eligibility total, regardless of the dollar amount received by an individual student • Cumulative 3.5 high school GPA • 29 ACT (national testing) or 1280 SAT • Full-time student at an eligible Mississippi institution • Mississippi resident (one year) • Deadline Date: September 15

College Goal Sunday • College Goal Sunday is a statewide volunteer program that provides free information and assistance to students and families who are applying for financial aid for post secondary education. College Goal Sunday brings together financial aid professionals from colleges and universities along with other volunteers to help college-bound students and their families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.
