Find words inside a word Find CHUNKS Look around for rhyming sounds that can be found Break the word into syllables Inside FindingCHUNKS Around, found, sound Atlantic Wisconsin indestructible Decoding= breaking words apartLook at the beginning of the word, and end of the wordand think about what makes sense
Encoding = putting words back together (spelling) • Txting wrks 4 bffs bt nt in skl • Texting in t9 or ‘word’ DOES help kids learn to recognize the correct spelling • (so in a way, texting is GOOD, but not at the table) Spelling counts in EVERY class • People will make decisions about you based on how you spell • Your Resume doesn’t impress with spelling errors • Spell check only works if you’re close
