Midway Design Review 11/25/13
REES (Real-Time Evacuation System) • Hantz Alvarez, EE • Liyan Tang, CSE • Pablo Alvarez, EE • Joel GuifoFogue, CSE
Overview • Real-time quantitative information about the population within a building facility enhances the efficiency of rescue and safety procedures.
Requirements • Real-time counter • Count accuracy within 90% • Detection height of the average doorway • Attempt to discern between more than one person entering and exiting • Database • Store all building and count information • Update in real-time • Android Application • Retrieve necessary information from database upon login • Display floor plan and population
Proposed MDR Deliverables • Sensor and display unit • Be able to demonstrate counter for people entering and exiting rooms • Display arrows exit route • Demonstration of Android Application • Received data from database and display floor plan with estimated number of people in room
REES Member Tasks • HantzAlvarez & Pablo Alvarez • Sensor Unit using infrared technology • Data Processing through an Arduinomicroprocessor • Send data to database • Joel GuifoFogue • Server and Database Processing • Liyan Tang • User Interface and Communication with Database
Sensor • Grid Eye Infrared Sensor
Android Application Mobile Application SQLite Mobile Client Sync Engine SQLite Databases Device Management Agent
User Interface • Improvements • Retrieve most updated information • Reliable and fast • Display color/gradient for population
Achieved MDR Deliverables • Real-time counter • Storing data in database • Display data in Android application
CDR Deliverables • Grid-eye implemented • Discern directional motion • Subsystem integration • Send data to database in real-time • Retrieve most updated data in android application
