Midway Elementary Title 1 Goals and Plan November 8, 2011
Agenda • Some Education Lingo • Overview of Midway Student Performance on AYP • Review Title 1 Plan Goals for 2011 • Feedback on plan • Math Night schedule
Some Terms to Know • Annual Yearly Performance (AYP) • Annual Measureable Objectives (AMO) • Criterion Reference Competency Test (CRCT) • CRCT Subgroups • Title 1
Every year Title 1 teachers… • analyze student performance on the CRCT • set goals for improving student performance
Every year the school… • analyzes student performance on the CRCT • sets goals for improvement
This year because we are school wide Title 1, goals are more closely aligned with the school improvement goals. • Tonight I would like to share with you some data and our plan.
AYP Data Reading • In 2010-2011 94.8% of our students met/exceeded standards in reading. Although that surpasses our AMO, our goal is to increase by 2% the number of students who meet or exceed on the CRCT. • In 2010-2011, 87.5% of our ELL population met/exceeded standards as measured by the CRCT. Our AMO is 86.7%. Our goal is to increase the number of ELL students who meet/exceed by 1%.
AYP Data Math • In 2010-2011 93.2% of our students met or exceeded on the Math CRCT. Our AMO is 83.8%. We have met our AMO but would like to increase by 2% the number of students who meet or exceed on the CRCT. • In 2010-2011 81.4 % of our SWD met/exceeded on the CRCT. Our goal is to increase by 4% the number of students in that sub-group who meet or exceed on the CRCT.
Instructional Goal • The goal is to use re-searched based instructional materials and programs to increase the number of students meeting or exceeding standards on the CRCT both in the general population and within the identified sub-populations.
How kids are served? • Small group pull out • Additional teachers in the classroom • Additional segments of service
Professional Development • Collaboration between Title 1, Special Education Teachers and classroom teachers. • Provide teachers professional learning opportunities.
Parent Resource Room • The goal is to provide books and educational resources in the hands of parents and provide training on how to use these resources with their children. • Increase resources available for checkout!!
Life Skills Classes • Classes for Parents of ELL Students- The goal is to help parents learn English and learn skills that will help them help their children. • An additional goal is to make parents aware of resources in the community to help meet their needs.
Kinder Kamp • The goals is to reach out to children who have no previous school experience or limited exposure outside the home and educate those children and their parents about school prior to the start of kindergarten.
Summer Book Club • The goal is to keep students reading throughout the summer and to foster a love of reading in a fun environment.
Based on the money allocated to Midway we are going to create a budget to address those goals.
Our budget requests are put into a consolidated application that then goes to the state of Georgia for approval.
Title 1 is All About Parent Involvement! • We welcome your input. • If you have questions about the plan you can talk with me .
