  9. What is the DECT Grant? A mechanism to provide funding to California Community Colleges in order to promote the accessibility of distance learning courses. Funding for live and delayed captioning and transcription.

  10. What is the DECT Grant? • A commitment to support all students • A recognition that distance education is the fastest growing sector • A means for you to support faculty innovation and expand student success • Financial support for captioning and transcription of distance education at CCCs

  11. Why do CCCs need this funding? • To provide accessibility • To support the increasing use of media • To comply with legal requirements

  12. What is eligible for funding? 1. Distance education classes at CCCs 2. Live / synchronous for distance education 3. Delayed / asynchronous for distance education 4. For-credit and non-credit courses (not community education, community extension)

And more… • Hybrid classes (some instructional hours offered at a distance) • On-campus classes utilizing distance methods of content delivery as they evolve (e.g., class capture, web conferencing, vodcasting, podcasting, content posted within a Learning Management System) • Digital learning object repositories used to collect and make available digitized content; this content could be used by on-campus, hybrid, online, and other delivery methods.
