Writing for Web Jade Stipetic
User Generated Content User generated content appears in websites that we use today. • Twitter • Facebook • Linked In • Bebo • Blogs – Blogger, Word press
News Sites The development from print to online for news has been a huge success. We now have access to news using the internet. Not only that, we can read what we want to read instead of being told to read specific things. A few examples would be – - The Hull Daily Mail - The Times • The independent • Google news
But what about sites that don’t produce updated news? For instance, I Produced several articles for a group called PSI. (Paranormal scientific investigation) These articles will remain on their website and won’t be changed. Other sites include – -IMDB- the internet movie data base only updates when new films are released. However, you can write reviews for them which is a form of writing for the web. -Games websites – Game – Games itself works similarly to IMDB. They update when new games come out, but again writing for web.
Characteristics When you write for the web it is not the same as writing for print, although it is similar. When people read digital content they often scan it, paragraphs are always good, or less wordy? Put the most important information first. Don’t make your writing look heavy, use a clear font, not bold or underlined!
