  2. Some terminology • Record browse screen • Shows the list of results from performing a search • Full Record screen • Shows the result when a search returns only 1 record • Shows a single record when selected from the Record Browse Screen

  5. Web Options (wwwoptions) • An Innovative site can turn options on or off selectively • Web options control the display and behavior of the Web OPAC • Highly customizable • Allows Innovative sites to tailor the OPAC to meet their own requirements

  6. Path to Web Options A > Additional System Functions A > Alter System Parameters S > System Codes W > Edit WWW HTML Screens W > Update the wwwoptions file

  7. BIBLOC=true • First data field displayed in the Full Record Display will be the LOCATION from the bibliographic record

  9. BRIEF=[tag] • Specifies what data is to be displayed on the first line of a 2-line record browse screen along with the index that was searched • A few possibilities: • A – Author I - ISBN • B – Bib Location J – Journal Title • C – Call Number M – Cataloging Date • H – Holdings S - Status

EXTENDED=[tag] • Controls the information you see on the Browse Screen when the Extended Display button is selected • Whereas BRIEF controls the 1st line display, EXTENDED controls the 2nd line of display • Examples of information available: • author bib location • call # holdings • ISBN status

  14. HOLDINGS_POS • Specifies which fields appear before the holdings list • HOLDINGS_POS=atpe • author, title, imprint and edition will appear before the holdings list

  17. ITEMOUT_MSG • Specifies the message that displays to indicate the circulation status of an item • Default message: • Due date and Time (if applicable) • This option allows an alternative message to be displayed

  20. LOC_<Location Code> • The location name in the full record is displayed as a hyperlink • Clicking on location hyperlink takes user to another HTML screen with information about the location

  23. MEDIA • MEDIA option adds a column to the record browse screen, showing the material types of the records • This information can be displayed using text or images. Displaying images requires the IMAGE-MATTYPEx option • Material type comes from the BCODE1 or BCODE2 fields of the bib record

  26. OFFER_HISTORY • Controls whether the Search History option is offered to the user • Can be set to True or False • Default: False • If OFFER_HISTORY is not in the Web Options file, the search history option will not be displayed • Maximum history of 20 saved searches

  28. PATRON_MSG • When patron accesses her patron record through the Web OPAC, a message from the library can be displayed for that patron

  31. SIMILAR_ITEMS=true • When set to true, the Web OPAC displays an additional button that will retrieve records containing permutations of the subject heading • Similar items subject headings appear in the full record screen

  34. SORT_BROWSE • Allows the user to sort results by title, author, year, reverse year, call number and material type on the record browse screen • Also can sort by scope • SORT_BROWSE=t:Title|a:Author|c:Chronological|r:Reverse Chronological|n:Call Number
