Streamlining the process of Housing Individuals & Families who are Homeless in DC • Challenges for DC Department of Human Services: • Deadline for shelter closing • Counsel requirements for a specific count of individuals housed • Cycle time at DCHA was 6 to 9 months • Unit inspection 30 days expiration • Players in the housing process: • Dept of Human Services • The Community Partnership • Dept of Real Estate Services • DC Housing Authority • Case Management Providers • Mayor and Office of the City Administrator • Council

The Process and Cycle Time that Changed • 91% of applications to DC Housing Authority are approved in less than 45 days. • 60% of clients are housed within 90 days Number of days between when original application was submitted and DCHA approved the application – Most clients with over 90 day cycle time had issues with original documentation submission
