Core Values Guide our daily actions. Lie at the core of your personality. How do we live our personal values, how do we live our shared values? How do we deepen our awareness of the values of the people we serve? The people we lead?

Triads • When you have finished writing, create triads (small group of 3 people) and find a comfortable spot to sit. • Each person will have 3 minutes to talk about their “person” and their reflections of what this person brought to their life. • After 10 minutes, come back to the larger room.
BOXRepresents Structure • Most organized of all the shapes. • Hardworking, committed. • Prefers to work alone. • Loves rules, schedules, data, procedures, flow charts and spreadsheets. • Prefers a predictable environment, no “surprises.” • Resistant to change. TRIANGLERepresents Ambition and High Achievement • Organized and focused. • Goal setters, high achievers, competitive • Fast thinkers, decision makers, strong opinions • Quick to get to the point, fast paced life • Bottom line oriented, don’t want a lot of details. • Can’t stand wishy-washy people. • Want to be in control • “When I want your opinion, I’ll give you mine.”
RECTANGLERepresents Change and Inner Growth • In a temporary state of change or transition. • New to the team. • Deep learning occurs. • Not certain about the future. • Can produce a feeling of confusion and insecurity. • Growing, introspecting, questioning. • Doesn’t want to be “pinned down.” • Needs support and approval. • “Please listen to me, then tell me what to do!”
CIRCLERepresents Harmony, Unity and Balance • Nurturers, caregivers, puts own needs last. • Focused on well being of others and maintaining harmony. • People pleasers. Don’t like or cope well with conflict. Will back down from arguments. Takes problems home. • Good team players and communicators, can read non-verbal. • Best listeners, empathetic and sensitive to others' needs. • Their memos may include a little smiley face or words of encouragement. • Love the Team. “Let’s sit down and talk.” • “I don’t care how much you know, until I know how much you care!”
SQUIGGLE Represents High Energy and Creative Intelligence • Innovative idea people, bored quickly by routine, spontaneous. • Idea producers, can inspire others to get motivated. • Unique, challenge status quo. • Least organized of the shapes. • Frequently break the rules, can't understand why they have to be at work on time. • Direct, honest in their communication style. • Don't like deadlines/follow-ups. • "Why do we have to do it that way?"

FLEXING • You work and live with all shapes. • You LEAD all shapes and NEED all shape behaviors on your TEAM. • You have to be able to use all shapes to truly leverage YOUR leadership, communication and team’s talents. • Flexing is learning ways to communicate which match the personality type of those your lead.
How can you FLEX? • How can you flex to the other’s personality? • To flex to a box, you would make an appointment, have an agenda, and get down to business at once, present information in a logical flow, be business like and end on time. • To flex to a triangle, give them the bottom line quickly, omitting details, speak quickly and assertively. • How would you flex to a: • Rectangle • Circle • Squiggle
What is the impact of the transformation I am leading? • How will I be there? • Sage or guide? • How will I know when change has occurred? • What can we measure? Bright spots? • What are ways I can continue to lead the transformation? • How do you encourage the Enthusiasm of others? • How do I renew myself as a leader? • What is or who are my teachers? • How and when do I learn to “let it go” and practice acceptance and adaptability?
