So, what can our students do with laptops? • Pilot Submission Video
How will this work? • Most teachers do not have a 1 to 1 ratio of computers or laptops. • *2-3 Students share a computer – it really works! Students quickly understand: Share the computer or don’t use it at all!
Navigating • Students do not know how to navigate from site to site… • *Simple modeling goes a LONG way. The students of today, catch on to technology quick.
Teacher Familiarity • I don’t know much about websites. • *It is very important to “play” with a site you have found. Navigate and become familiar with it. You won’t regret the time you’ve spent up front. • *Create “Help Sheets” for students over steps that may seem difficult.
Gauging Results • How do I know the kids are learning? • Decide what it is you want from the site. Is it to teach a skill? To Practice? Then create a Rubric.
Stations • The idea of stations is for students to be actively engaged while truly learning so that teachers can have time to do small groups. • Built into our schedules for daily use. • Time when students can work on skills while the teacher can administer iStation Interventions, do Guided Reading or First Steps Interventions.
