16. School Recognition • A record number of schools (581) applied to be recognized for their progress implementing PBIS during the 2010-11 school year…nearly 30%increase over last year. • Early this fall, all schools will receive congratulatory letters from the Network, and some will also receive letters from ISBE’s Elizabeth Hanselman and Chris Koch. • Go to www.pbisillinois.org under the “Implementers” link, then the “Recognition Process” link.

Legislator Visits Response to Network’s annual mailing last spring inviting Illinois legislators to selected PBIS schools in their local legislative districts: • IL Representative Norine Hammond - District #94: Monmouth-Roseville Junior High School, Monmouth-Roseville CUSD 238 - April 18th. • IL Senator Linda Holmes - District #42: McCleery Elementary School, Aurora West USD 129 - April 28th. • IL Representative Lisa Dugan - District #79: Manteno Middle School, Manteno CUSD 5 - week of May 9th. • IL Representative Joe Sosnowski - District #69: Caledonia Elementary School, Belvidere School District #100 – scheduled for August 23rd. • IL Representative Rich Brauer - District #100 and IL Representative Raymond Poe -District #99: inquired about visiting PBIS schools in the future. • IL Senator Toi Hutchinson - District #40: Provided information about PBIS schools implementing in her district.

26. EE Demo Project • In FY 10, IL had 16,172 students in 5C (5.96%) with target of 10,584 (3.9%) • That equates to 5,588 students more students in 5c than the target • Targeted TA to districts with highest 5c rates

30. i3 Grant Resubmission • On August 2, the Network resubmitted an application for the federal Investing in Innovation Fund (i3) Grant under Priority 4: Innovations that Turn Around Persistently Low-performing Schools, titled “School-Wide Application Model (SAM) Illinois (SAM-IL)”. • Resources from the grant will allow validation and expansion of this school-reform model using a combined academic and behavioral RtI approach (PBIS) through a fully integrated organizational structure.
