INDEX: • What are specific properties? • Density • Hardness • Toughness • Plasticity • Ductility • Conductivity
WHAT ARE SPECIFIC PROPERTIES ? • Specifics properties are properties that depends on is calculated based on another measurable property.
DENSITY • Density is defined as mass per unit volume • To calculate the density of an object we can use these formula: DENSITY=MASS/VOLUME
HARDNESS • Resistance of materials deformation. They also refer to resistance to scratching, abrasion.
TOUGHNESS • Toughness is the resistance of a material to being broken.
PLASTICITY • Consists to be deformed a material without rupture by the force.
DUCTILITY • Is the ability of a material to transform them in thin wires.
ELASTICITY • Is the ability of a material to resist stretch and bend, and return to its original shape without breaking.
CONDUCTIVITY • There are four types of conductivity: THERMAL CONDUCTOR : Conduct heat easily THERMAL INSULATOR : Don´t conduct heat very well ELECTRICAL CONDUCTOR : Conductelectricity very well ELECTRICAL INSULATOR : Don´t conduct electricity very well
ACTIVITIES • What are the names of these specific properties? Isdefined as mass per unitvolume:_______ Is the resistance of materialsdeformation.Theyalsorefer to resistscrathing and abrasion :________ Is the resistance of a material to beingbroken :_________
