Certificate:ARCHIVES AND RECORDS MANAGEMENT The CORE unit standards: • 259441 (new): Arrange, describe & compile lists of records to make them accessible to users • 259442 (new): Conduct an information/records audit • 259477 (new): Demonstrate knowledge of concepts, terminology and ethics applicable to archives and records management • 259437 (new): Demonstrate understanding of statutory and legislative requirements which impact on records management and archives

The specialisations to substitute the electives section are as follows: • Records Management: 45 credits • Archives Management: 42 credits • Public Sector: 45 credits • Heritage: 39 credits • Business Environment: 44 credits
Certificate:ARCHIVES AND RECORDS MANAGEMENT Conclusion: • The focus of this qualification was on people who never had opportunities for qualifications before • There were no unit standards whatsoever for Archiving and RM in SA on this level • Even if the qualification is not enrolled for, a learner can now demand alignment/accreditation to a unit standard of any training (short courses, workshops) in Archiving and RM • It has become policy (especially in Government) to send learners on accredited training
