    3. NVQs to QCFs... New quals will prepare workers as effectively as the old ones If staff hold required NVQ they don’t need to do a QCF qual NVQs will not be awarded credits QCF L5 = NVQ L4 NVQs i’r FfCCs… 1. Fe fydd y cymwysterau newydd yn paratoi gweithwyr yr un mor effeithiol a’r hen rhai 2. Os mae staff yn meddu ar y NVQ priodol ni fyddant angen gwneud cymhwyster FfCC 3. Ni fydd credydau yn cael eu rhoi i NVQs 4. FfCC L5 = NVQ L4 QCFs build upon strengths of NVQs to ensure a modern, skilled workforce. CCW is committed to ensuring vulnerable adults and children are kept safe by workers who are knowledgeable, skilled and competent. QCF units are a mixture of skills and knowledge to demonstrate competence and assess learning outcomes. QCF units are also based on NOS and other authoritative sources e.g. Codes of practice. Individuals who already hold the qualification named for their job role or work setting will not be required to undertake an additional or different qualification. Learners may be able to have parts of their NVQ recognized as APL should they go on to complete units and qualifications on QCF. This will be negotiated with AOs. QCF replacement qualifications are of equivalent size and complexity. QCFs build upon strengths of NVQs to ensure a modern, skilled workforce. 4. Flexibility & choice Learners can’t just pick whatever units they like! Learners can take units at a higher level than their role. Dewis a hyblygrwydd 1. Dydy dysgwyr methu dewis pa bynnag unedau y meant eisiau 2. Dydy dysgwyr methu gwneud unedau ar lefel uwch na’u rôl Wales will continue to have generic HSC quals. Learners and employers will be able to decide which are the most appropriate ‘optional’ units to choose. Unlikely that learners can select optional units from an area that they are not working in as unless these are knowledge only units, as they would not be able to evidence them. QCF will provide more opportunities for progression as knowledge only units will be able to be undertaken a higher level. e.g. a level 5 supervision unit taken as part of the Health and Social Care Diploma would be recognised in both Leadership and Management in Care Services and Children’s Care Learning and Development Diplomas.
