Skills for Care Funding - Background • Training Strategy Implementation Funding • Distributed by Skills for Care on behalf of the Department of Health • c£1.3m allocated to London in 2010/11 • Funding routed through 16 employer-led partnerships • Demand higher than supply • NMDS-SC requirements
Skills for Care Funding 2011/12 • The Department of Health has confirmed that Skills for Care will receive funding in 2011/12 to support adult social care employers to develop their staff • The funding will help workers to take optional and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) units that support the development of knowledge and skills that reflect the changing and evolving needs of the sector • Specialist areas such as dementia care, end of life care, safeguarding and the emerging roles of personal assistants will be prioritised.
Other funding streams • Apprenticeships • Train to Gain to be replaced by an SME-focused training programme • Leadership & Management Grant
Skills for Sustainable Growth • For 2011/12 funding will be targeted primarily at: - 19-24 year olds seeking first full L2 & 3 quals • Adult apprenticeships • Essential literacy and numeracy skills • Work Programme • The entitlement to free training for a first full level 2 qualification for those over 25 will be removed
