DEEPENING REGIONAL COOPERATION AND INTEGRATION • Enhance the production of inter-State in energy by : • Developpingmajor regional and continental hydroelectric power projects and interconnections • Implementinghighcapacityoilrefineries and oil pipelines projects • Develop renewable energy resources • Complete the missing sections in the major transport corridors (TAH)

  20. 2. DEEPENING REGIONAL COOPERATION AND INTEGRATION (cont.) • Remove all physical and non-physical barriers to development of inter-State transport in Africa • Regional & sub-regional interconnection of ICT BROADBAND (Kigali Summit)

RESOURCE MOBILIZATION Increase public financing of infrastructure and actively promote Public-Private-Partnerships Deepen regional capital markets for more mobilization of resources and regional financial integration Set up special investment instruments such as infrastructure bonds Improve the investment climate Promote Africa as an investment destination 21

DEVELOPING CAPACITY FOR IMPLEMENTATION Develop the Program for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA) : Common continental policies and strategies Continental sector programs (short, medium and long term) Implementation process Put in place continental Institutional architecture for infrastructure development 22

Harmonize regulations and standards to promote interconnection of networks Create appropriate framework for development of the major integration projects Carry out the necessary reforms to ensure better maintenance and management systems of infrastructure 4.
