  3. Rationale for Chatting a New Course/Policy • Agency made up of officers and people in their 30s - 50s years of age. Vibrant young people • They have to be physically and mentally fit • Part of the physically fit, is engaging sporting activities • Hitherto, efforts made in the past to have a sports unit has not been successful • The passion of the ED for sports has necessitated the need for a sporting policy.

What will the policy entail? • Encourage excellence in the management of our sporting by promoting efficiency and better outcomes. • Provide all staff of the Agency with access to a comprehensive range of quality sports participation opportunities to enable them fulfil their potential and realize the physical, social and mental benefits • Ensure that resources are provided to participate in the Inter-Agencies and Federal Civil Service Sports

What will the policy entail? • Focus on improving the participation of women in sports, improving delivery of indigenous sport and promote sports for the physically and intellectually impaired • Ensure that the sporting activities holds yearly and prior to the Federal Civil Service sporting competition where the best will be selected to represent the Agency.

  6. Structure and Organization • The overall direction of the present sports structure shall be coordinated by a committee under the direct supervision of the ED/CEO • The committee will be the main body controlling the administration and organization of sports in the Agency.

  7. Structure and Organization (Cont.) There shall be two (2) levels of Sports committees: • NPHCDA HQ Sports Committee; and • Zonal Sports Committee.

  8. Structure and Organization (Cont.) • The Zonal Sports Committee shall be headed by someone who has a flair for sports and work closely with the committee at the NPHCDA HQ. • The membership of the zonal committee shall be as indicated below:

The responsibilities of the committees shall be as follows NPHCDA HQ Sports Committee • To encourage the development and organization of and participation in sports of all Agency staff • To co-ordinate and integrate efforts to raise the standard of performance in sports • To promote in cooperation with other sports bodies or sports groups, the physical fitness and general well-being of all staff in the Agency

Responsibilities Contd…. • Identify and Inspect facilities to be used to ascertain their readiness • Correspondence between NPHCDA HQ Sports Committee and Zonal Sports Committee and various team captain • Correspondence between HQ and stakeholders • Production of programme souvenirs • Designing quality programme of activities and schedules (Time Table)

  12. Responsibilities Contd. • Prepare budget for the activities and secure approval • Oversees and supervises all activities of the Zonal Sports Committee • Identify the various sports that staff will be involved in • Organize annual sports competition for the HQ and zonal offices

Responsibilities Zonal Committee • Identify sports facilities to be used • Production of programme for the sporting activities at that level • Liaison/Correspondence with appropriate local authority • Organizing and engage the zonal staff to participate fully in all games and activities • Preparation and presentation of feedback to the HQ Sports committee • As may be assigned by the NPHCDA HQ Sports Committee

  14. Grouping / Houses: It is proposed that every staff in the Agency be grouped according to the department and each zonal office will stand as one (1) group or catchment area. Therefore, the group shall be as follows:

  16. What are the sporting activities available to be contested for? SPORTING ACTIVITIES FIELD EVENTS: • FOOTBALL (MALE) • VOLLEY BALL (MALE & FEMALE) • BADMITTON (MALE & FEMALE) • LAWN TENNIS (MALE & FEMALE) • TABLE TENNIS (MALE & FEMALE) • HAND BALL (MALE & FEMALE) • CHESS (MALE & FEMALE) • 5o Meters (Male) • 50 Meters (Female) • 200 Meters (Male & Female) • 4x100 Meters (Male & Female) • Walk Race (Male & Female) • Egg Race (Male & Female) • Sack Race (Male & Female)

  17. MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION A standardized application form must be developed and used in all the Agency games. Any participants who fail to complete the application shall not be allowed to participate in the competition. MODALITIES OF EVENTS: The team of twelve (12) will be grouped into four (4).

  18. Preliminaries: This will be applicable in all the games, if any team is not able to participate in any game it will be a work over. Tentative Dates of the Preliminaries: JUNE – JULY, 2019

  20. THIRD PLACE MATCH This will take place on the Friday 8th Nov. 2019 preceding Award Day Loser of Group 1 and Group 3 Vs Loser of Group 2 and Group 4

  21. GRAND FINALE This will take place on the Saturday 9th Nov. 2019 preceding Award Day Winner of Group 1 and Group 3 Vs Winner of Group 2 and Group 4
