  1. WEL COME

  2. ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION

  3. ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION • Man by his direct or indirect activities destroys the environment. This is called “ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION.”

  4. Types of pollution • AIR POLLUTION • WATER POLLUTION • SOIL POLLUTION • SOUND POLLUTION • RADIO ACTIVE POLLUTION

  5. AIR POLLUTION liquid ,or solid wastes or by products that can endanger human health and the health and welfare of plants and animals , or can attack materials , reduce visibility ,or produce undesirable ordurs is called air pollution. Contamination of atmosphere by gaseous

  6. AIR POLLUTION • The gases required by man for breathing are being polluted. It makes man a victim of many diseases. Usually volcanic eruptions, industries, vehicles, etc are the causes for air pollution.

  7. WATER POLLUTION • Contamination of water by foreign matters such as micro organisms ,chemicals industrial wastes etc.,. such matters deteriorates the quality of the water is called WATER POLLUTION.

  8. WATER POLLUTION Water is also being polluted due to many human activities. Decomposition of wastes that are let out from industries , unscientific agricultural methods etc.

  9. SOIL POLLUTION Soil pollution is defined as the build up in soil of persistent toxic compounds, chemicals, salts, radio active substances .

  10. SOIL POLLUTION • In this figure we can see soil polluted. Due to this no crop can be grown. floods, earth quakes, etc are the some of the causes of soil pollution

  11. SOUND POLLUTION

  12. SOUND POLLUTION • Main causes of sound pollution is the community all transport sources such as air craft taking off and landing, road traffic, railways, paper factory , commercial installation, construction activities and lei usher activities.

  13. CAUSES OF POLLUTION • Atmospheric temperature is increasing due to adding of more carbon dioxide in air. • Air pollution makes man a victim of many diseases like cancer, high blood ,asthma, irritation of eyes etc. • Climatic conditions change rapidly due to air pollution. • The ozone layer that surrounds our globe is being damaged and ultra violet rays are entering into the atmosphere. • Acid rain occurs and damages vegetation. • Rivers water is being polluted and affects organisms. • Soil erosion , surplus , use of water pesticides degrade and pollutes the soils .

  14. PREVENTION OF POLLUTION • Industries causing environmental pollution must be checked and ordered to be equipped with exhaust pipes. • Vehicles that do not emit smoke must be encouraged . • Proper action must be taken to prevent industrial wastages from flowing into rivers . • Treatment plants must be set up to treat drain water . • Deforestation must be controlled . • Soil erosion must be checked • Use of pesticides which decrease the fertility of soil or cause pollution must be regulated.
