  3. Revisiting the fundamentals Our Mission and Vision WINGS is a global network of grantmaker associations and philanthropic support organisations. WINGS strengthens, promotes and provides leadership on the development of philanthropy and social investment around the world. WINGS gives voice to the many cultures of giving and provides its members and other participants with information, knowledge, and peer exchange. Our vision is of a strong, global philanthropic community that strives to build more equitable and just societies around the world.

Moving Forward – Global Trends • Philanthropy is becoming more global • Global interconnectedness - sharing dreams & concerns, embracing diversity • Cross border giving increasing – addressing local issues with global impact • Change in demographics influencing philanthropy • Younger philanthropists – pragmatic, eager to see results • Philanthropists from emerging societies – concerned with social change • Growth of multiple forms of philanthropy • Tension between old and new ways of generating social benefit • Digital technology is increasingly influencing how philanthropy works • New ways of giving, mobilizing resources and engage donors • Growing focus on accountability and transparency • Increased demand on using data • Increased demand for data-driven insights to inform funding decisions • Need to improve ability to gather, store and share data

Moving Forward • We are the only worldwide network serving and representing infrastructure for philanthropy • We are in good position to: • Facilitate members to connect, share, and partner • Support member strengthening their capacity • Promote enabling envirorganizations in onmentfor philanthropy • Advance philanthropy practice and research We see 3 levels of need among members: • Individual level – to feel connected and overcome isolation • Organizational level – to build strong, sustainable organizations • Network level – to build shared vision and collective action to promote and support philanthropy

  8. Impact • Good quality data will enable to advance knowledge within the field • Infrastructure in support of philanthropy will evolve, including legal and fiscal environments to encourage and facilitate giving • Strong global community of support organizations
