Description • This book is designed for students in 1st grade (more towards the end of 1st grade). • Specifically, it is meant to assist students who have difficulty with comprehension due to their fluency. • I have noticed that it takes some students so long to sound out words that, by they time they figure the word out, they have forgotten the previous word. • This book will allow students to either read the words themselves, or hear the words spoken to them so that they have access to the content. • Some unusual or difficult words are circled and additional information is provided. • I am hoping the book will help increase comprehension of the material. • In my classroom, this book can/will be used by students to read alone, with small groups, or in the full classroom setting. It should help make it so that every student can participate in the activity without having to rely on others and also remove some of the struggle so that they can focus more on learning the content. (In music, reading isn’t the main focus, but I do what I can to support and encourage it.)
