  3. Harry Potter: a teenage wizard (played by Daniel Radcliffe). He is a brave but very emotional person. • Ron Weasley: Harry’s best friend, (played by Rupert Grint). He is very loyal to Harry. • Hermione Granger: Another of Harry’s friends (played by Emma Watson). She is brilliantly clever and very hard-working. • Professor Lupin: a new teacher at Hogwarts (played by David Thewlis). He always looks untidy and tired, but his lessons are interesting and he is kind to Harry. • Sirius Black: a criminal who has escaped from Azkaban (played by Gary Oldman) • Hagrid: the gamekeeper at Hogwarts (played by Robbie Coltrane). He likes to keep strange animals • Professor Dumbledore: the Headmaster of Hogwarts (played by Michael Gambon). He is a very wise and powerful wizard. • Professor Snape: the Potions teacher. He hates Harry • Professor McGonagall: Head of Gryffindor house and teacher of Transfiguration. She can transform into a cat

The Plot • A dangerous criminal called Sirius Black has escaped from Azkaban. • Everyone thinks he wants to kill Harry Potter, but Harry doesn’t know this at first. • In order to protect the students from Sirius Black, Hogwarts School is being guarded by the Dementors, the prison guards of Azkaban. • For some strange reason, the Dementors seem to want to attack Harry. • A new teacher, Professor Lupin, teaches Harry how to protect himself against the Dementors. • Professor Lupin and Sirius Black are not what they seem to be. Because of them, Harry learns more about what happened on the night his parents died………….
