How should we prepare for an earthquake in Missouri • The New Madrid fault line in Southern Missouri is long overdue for a major earthquake so we should be prepared • Some ways Missourians should be prepared • Store breakable items in low closed cabinets • Brace hanging light fixtures • have disaster supplies on hand such as flashlight and extra batteries, battery operated radio, fist aid kit with manual, emergency food and drinking water, non electric can opener, cash, and sturdy shoes • Develop an emergency communications plan • Strap shelves to walls with heaviest things on the bottom • Learn how to turn off gas, electricity, and water
