  2. Introduction • A 2009 Pew Research Center report found that 93% of students between the ages of 12 & 17 are online. “Online learning can be more than lectures” (Mangu-Ward). Online education is important because it helps students get their educations quicker, learn for themselves and learn on their own time.

  3. Students get Education quicker • Of the million kids already taking classes online, some are just logging in from their bedrooms, but others are taking courses on computers in community centers.

  4. Students get Education quicker continued… • Students can do it whenever they want and however long they choose.

  5. Students learn for themselves continued… • Students eager to progress more rapidly are taking courses online ahead of schedule, therefore shortening the amount of time spent in elementary education.

  6. Students learn for themselves • Students are able to take courses online that may not be available in their schools setting. Other students who are not successful with a required course are able to retake it in the privacy of their own home without the embarrassment of “repeating” a course.

  7. Students learn for themselves continued… • How will students learn to socialize if they don’t go to school? The same way they learned to socialize before they had school? • Some ways to socialize are churches, social groups, sports teams, scouts and home.

  8. Students can learn on their own time. • Kids who enroll in advanced placement courses- 39% of whom are minority students score an average of 3.05 out of 5, compared with a state average of 2.49 for public school students.

  9. Students can learn on their own time continued… • Students won’t have to go to school and they can do it whenever they want.

  10. Conclusion • You can get education quicker by doing it in your bedroom or on computers. Smart kids are bored and slower kids are left behind. Online education is important because it helps students get their educations quicker, learn for themselves and learn on their own time. How will online education help our society?
