  2. Ruth 1:1-22 (1) • The time of the Judges ( ruling the land) • Famine in the land • Judah from Bethlehem • Elimelech moved from Bethlehem to Moab • Elimelech + Naomi= two sons • 1)Mahlon 2) Chilion • Elimelech died • Mahlon+Orpah(Moabite) • Chilion+Ruth (Moabite)

  3. Ruth 1:1-22 (2) • Lived in Moab for 10 years • Mahlon died • Chilion died • Naomi,Orpah and Ruth returned from Moab to the land of Judah • Naomi’s instruction to her two daughters in laws

  4. Ruth 1:1-22 (3) • “go and return to your mother’s house” • 3 times , Naomi repeated her instruction • Orpah left • Ruth refused to leave • Ruth’s personal choice to remain with Naomi (mother’s in law) • Naomi and Ruth returning from Moab to Bethlehem

  5. Ruth 1:1-22 (4) • Boaz meets with Ruth in Bethlehem • Ruth gleans in the field of Boaz • Boaz = the owner of the grain field (rich, wealthy, powerful, superior position) • Ruth=gleaning, picking up the left over grains after the harvest (poor, humble position)

  6. Ruth’s personal choice to remain with Naomi (mother’s in law) • Destination, the end result, the final fruit? • ?

  7. Ruth 3:8 (1) • Ruth obeyed Naomi • Naomi’s instruction to Ruth: • 1.wash yourself and anoint yourself • 2.put on the best garment • 3.go down to the threshing floor • 4.do not make yourself known to the man • 5.notice the place where the man lies down

  8. Ruth 3:8 (2) • 6. Go in and uncover the feet • 7.lie down • Time=midnight • Circumstance=Boaz discovered Ruth at the end of the bed( covering) • “I am Ruth, your maidservant. Take your maidservant under your wing, for you are a near kinsman”

  9. Ruth 3:8 (3) • Ruth Boaz • Ruth= we, in need of release, freedom from poverty (bondage of sin) • Boaz= Savior, (Christ) • Boaz’s decision to marry Ruth (save Ruth from poverty)= Midnight • Midnight= freedom, release from bondage, poverty, salvation !!!

Joshua 2:1-24;Rahab (1) • Joshua and Israelites on the Jordan • Joshua sent out 2 spies to Jericho • Rahab , the harlot , saved the lives of spies • Request from Rahab to the spies: • “I have shown you kindness ,that you will show kindness to my father’s house and give me a true token. • Spare my father, my mother, my brothers, my sisters, and all that they have and deliver our lives from death

  11. Joshua 2:1-24;Rahab(2) • Spies' response to Rahab; • “When we come into the land , you bind this line of scarlet cord in the window through which you let us down • You bring your father, your mother, your brothers, your sisters and all your father’s household to your home

  14. At the Critical time • Those inside the house = saved ,(+) • Those outside the house = destroyed,(-) • Very awesome thought !

Exodus 12:1-20 • The time of pass over , Moses, at the time of Exodus from Egypt to Canaan, promised land • Those inside the house with door post stained by the lamb’s blood= saved, (+),obeyed the command,salvation,(life) • Those outside the house =killed by the death angels , (--),no salvation ,(death)

  19. revelation 20:9 , Gog and MagogThe end time scenario • The time of the end :revelation 20:9 • Fire =the means of destruction ,not the flood of water • Those inside the newJerusalem =saved, salvation , (+), a good news,happiness,joy • Those outside the new Jerusalem =destroyed by fire, 100 % mortality, (-),very bad news, unhappiness, sad ending.

  21. revelation 20:9 , Gog and MagogThe end time scenario (2) • Those inside the wall of New Jerusalem= small number of people (saints) • Those outside the wall of New Jerusalem=a great number of people, the multitude of confederacy of all the earthly powers are gathered to attack the Holy city, New Jerusalem • “the number is as the sand of the sea” • Revelation 20:8

  22. Important choice • There are only two classes of people at the end time. • Those inside the God’s house=obey the command, salvation, (+),life • Those outside the God’s house= disobedience to the God’s laws, no salvation, death, (--), destruction

  23. Important question to ponder • Which team are you joining ? • Losing team?---final destruction by fire, death • Winning team?—salvation from fire, life, • it is a $ 64,000 question for ever one • Make up your mind which team you are going to belong to !!!

Decision –destiny • Ruth’s personal choice to remain and stick with Naomi ( mother in law ) in spite of adversity and unfavorable circumstance (death of husband, poverty) ended up with a big surprise and great privilege of partaking in the lineage of Jesus Christ ! • Ruth = Moabite (not Jews) grafted into the lineage of Jesus Christ by marriage

The Scarlet Cord • The Scarlet Cord which Rehab used to let Joshua’s spies down to the earth (ground) from the top of the window for safety (salvation) • The Implication of the Scarlet Cord is significant. And reached all the way to Jesus Christ.!!! • The scarlet cord=the blood stain of Jesus • Decision destiny

  29. Spiritual Israel • Rahab ( not Jew, not Israelite , but a harlot from Jericho ) was grafted into the lineage of Jesus Christ by marriage. • Ruth = Moabite (not Jew) grafted into the lineage of Jesus Christ by marriage • Something to think about !

  34. 1 kings 3:20, Solomon (3) • Two mother’s response: • Mother A= No, let the baby live.(compassion) • Mother B=Yes, go ahead and kill the baby(cold, no compassion) • Verdict: give the child to Mother A ! • Proof: deep compassion and truelove to see the child alive in stead of dead !!! • Willingness to give up the child and let him alive
