Monologue • A long speech performed by a single character or actor Think of a TV show or Movie that has an actor/actress perform a monologue.
Soliloquy • The act of speaking while alone on stage to allow a character’s thoughts and ideas to be conveyed to the audience Think of a TV show or Movie that has an actor/actress perform a soliloquy.
Aside • A remark made by an actor to the audience but not heard by other characters on stage
DramaticIrony • The words and actions of a character are known by the audience, but not the other characters Think of another TV show or movie that has dramatic irony.
ComicRelief • A break from the tension in a drama that is provided by a character’s humorous actions or words Think of another TV show or movie that has comic relief.

Sarcasm • remarks that mean the opposite of what they seem to say; mocking
NonSequitur • A statement that appears unrelated to a statement that follows it Non Sequitur Examples: When someone asks "how is the weather?" and you reply "It's 2:00 in the afternoon," this is an example of a non sequitur since it does not follow or flow from the previous statement. God is love. Love is Blind. Therefore, Ray Charles is God.
