IAW ANGI32-1001Civil Engineering’s Mission Ensure that all facilities on the installation can support the base mission, maintain real property facilities and implement programs to accomplish these goals in a cost-effective manner
CE Responsibilities (snapshot) • Provide reliable utilities for the base • Correct emergencies on a 24 hour basis • Accomplish mission economically for facilities • Develop and implement Snow Removal Plan • Base support services • Accomplish work requirements quickly • Customer feedback program • Building Manager Program • Preventative Maintenance plan for buildings
Engineering Section Key Staff • Lt Col Doug Olson (Base Civil Engineer): Commander of CE. Head engineer in charge of all major and minor construction projects. Top of the CE food chain. • Major Mike Smith (Deputy BCE/Environmental Officer): Second in command, also assumes large responsibility for construction on base. Also serves as Environmental and Pest Management Officer. • Dennis Williams (Design/Construction): Project manager for most construction on base. • Kurt White (CADD): Expert on design computer system. Designs and distributes blueprints/maps of facilities and grounds. • Bobbie George (Admin): Secretary. Can take all requests for Engineering staff via telephone or email. • Edwin Weis (Real Property): Real Estate expert. Handles all land leases owned and operated by Volk Field. • Dan Anderson (Natural Resources): Manages all protected species on base and at Hardwood Bombing Range.
Operations Section Key Staff • SMSgt Jim Rowley (Superintendent): Senior enlisted member and Facility Manager for all 151 buildings on base. Conducts building inspections in your facilities and has final approval authority on all work requests. • MSgt Meredith Conn (Production Control/Customer Service): Second in command. Receives and reviews all work requests and works with state supervisors and FM to schedule work. • Rick Cones: Building and Grounds State Supervisor. Oversees 18 craftsmen in the Structures and Grounds trades. Schedules work. • Tom Zimmerman: Utilities State Supervisor. Oversees 10 craftsmen in the HVAC, Electrical, Alarm Systems, and Plumbing trades. Schedules work. • Amy George: Purchasing Associate. Purchases all materials needed for inventory and direct scheduled work orders using credit cards and Purchase Orders. • Custodial Crew: Cleans your office, break and restroom areas on a regular cleaning schedule.
