Writing For Publication Mel Williams
Development Evidence First draft of part of the Write – up. So was is hard to do the album in that short amount of time. “It was quite hard! We rushed the songs to get them done and none of us really enjoyed the music. It seemed like a boring office job which is what we didn’t want. We didn’t think the songs sounded like hits so we recorded them in the same place as the other ones for some consistency. The album sounded more mellow than we had intended but at least all of the songs matched.
Development Evidence Second draft of part of the write – up. (after consulting with editorial group) So was is hard to do the album in two half day sessions? “It was ridiculously difficult! We rushed the songs to get them done and none of us really enjoyed the music because seemed like the music was a boring office job which is what we wanted to escape from. Our unhappiness with the tracks came across so we decided to re-record the tracks in the same place as the rest of them. The album has a more folk/acoustic sound now which is the aim we were going for.”
Development Evidence Third draft of write – up after consulting with teacher. Wow, three songs in less than twelve hours, that doesn’t seem easy. “It was mind-bogglingly difficult! We rushed the songs to get them done and I think that was one of the times where being in a band felt like a job which we wanted to escape, rather than something we love doing. After listening to the tracks a few times, we heard that negativity come across so we decided to re-record them in Ricky’s shed along with the rest of the songs. The album has a more folk/acoustic sound now which is the aim we were going for.”
Development Evidence Final version of part of the write – up after re-reading my own work. Wow, three songs in less than twelve hours, was that difficult to manage? “It was mind-bogglingly difficult! We rushed the songs to get them done and I think that was one of the times where being in a band felt like a job rather than something we love doing. That slightly negative feeling came across in those three tracks so we decided to re-record them in Ricky’s shed along with the rest of the songs. The album has a more consistent folk-influenced acoustic sound now which is the aim we were going for.”
