Technical Core—Program Goal • Provide college level coursework for students interested in • pursuing careers in aviation, • advancing their General Aviation experience preparing them for Federal Aviation Administration certification, or • continuing aviation study by transferring to baccalaureate awarding institutions.
Technical Core SLO Example—AVIA 101: • SLO #1:Upon successful completion of technical core, students will report feeling prepared to complete, or continue preparation for, the respective FAA written examination. • SLO #2: • Upon successful completion of AVIA 101, students will demonstrate FAA test taking skills and a basic understanding of how an airplane fly’s by: • Defining the three axis of flight; • Identifying the importance of the critical angle of attack; • Defining the four forces in flight; • Defining the aerodynamics of a turn.

Leadership Core—Program Goal • Introduce students to teambuilding and a performance analysis model called ‘Team Resource Management’. • The program provides students with hands-on experiences which provide opportunities to improve their leadership, teambuilding, and communication skills thereby enhancing their resource management, situational awareness, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Leadership Core—SLO’s SLO #1: Upon successful completion of the AVIA leadership core, students will be able to use appropriate resources to: Successfully work in a team to complete assign project; OR Work in a team in order to complete and present analysis of TRM case study; OR Identify the impact of individual, group and systemic influences on team performance. SLO #2: Upon successful completion of the AVIA leadership core, students will report feeling better prepared to work in teams.

Professional Development Core—Program Goal • Program Goal: • The goal of the Aviation Operations Professional Development Core is to offer students the opportunity to continue professional growth by reviewing instructional materials in preparation for Federal Aviation Administration certification.
Professional Development Core—Program Goal • Courses: AVIA 301, 312 • SLO • Upon successful completion of professional development core, students will report feeling prepared to complete the respective FAA written examination.
