4. The Process • Distinctiveness must include a wholehearted commitment to putting faith and spiritual development at the heart of the curriculum • The Christian ethos must permeate the whole educational experience • The importance of clearly ascribed Christian values and their outworking in the life of schools is widely accepted but may need embedding

High quality RE and CW should continue to make • major contributions to the Church school’s • Christian ethos • Pupils should be enabled to engage seriously with • and develop an understanding of the person and • teaching of Jesus Christ • Every child should be enabled to flourish in their • potential as a child of God, as a sign and expression • of the Kingdom. This is at the heart of the Church’s • distinctive mission

6. Evaluation • Child focussed • Core Questions • Self-evaluation predicated • Evidence based judgements • Judgements will be on a 1-4 scale in line with the Ofsted scale

8. Logistics! • The inspection is the responsibility of the governing body IN CONSULTATION with the diocese • Ofsted 12 hours notice • SIAMS - Maximum of one week’s notice

9. Inspectors • Practioners • CRB checked • Professionally trained • Committed to on-going training • Monitored and assessed • Can be de-selected

10. What do I need to do? • Make sure you have read and understood your current SIAS/SIAMS report • Check your School Development Plan to ensure it includes the action points from your most recent SIAS/SIAMS inspection • Be aware that from September 2013 there is a new evaluation schedule

11. Look at the new expectations, especially • the level descriptors – the bar has been raised! • Take an active part in the school’s • self- evaluation process • Familiarize yourself with the relevant • documentation
