Problem: The Joggers • Brad and Alex are brothers who love to jog! They jog every day for one hour! Each hour they jog in the park they jog two laps. One day Alex said "Brad how many miles do we run in a week?” With that in mind Brad said” Well if each lap we do is a mile and we jog 2 laps a day , we run 2 miles per hour”.”So two mile times seven days will equal 14 miles per week! So how many days will it take to for them to run 18 miles?
Equation • H=Number of Hours Jogged • 2miles x Number of hours Jog • 2xH=miles jogged
Independent/Dependent • The independent variable is the time jogged and the dependent variable is the miles jogged, since the miles jogged relays on how much time they jog.
Domain/Range Domain is the variables/values on the X-Axis and the Range is all the Variables/Values on the Y-Axis! 0≤x 0≤Y Set Builder:
Lets Work It Out! • Well if we plug in X-Values in the Equation the results are shown in the chart below! The problem is contiuse due you can have a half of a mile and a hour.
Lets Graph The Data • If we graph the data from the chart it will look like this:
At the End… • If we check the graph or chart the number of days it takes for the brothers to run 18 miles each is nine days. We can check this by plugging it to the formula. So if (H)is 9 than 2x9=18 miles!
