Summary and Future Prospects Kazutaka SUDOH Nishogakusha University KEK Workshop “HEAVY QUARK PHYSICS IN QCD” 2009/9/7-8
Topics in HQ Physics • Hadron Spectroscopy • Medium Effects • Production and Decay • CP Physics HQP09
Hadron Spectrosopy • Open heavy flavor • Ds(2317), Ds(2427),,,, • B(5720), B(5745), Bs(5829), Bs(5839),,,, • Hidden heavy flavor • Conventional quarkonium • X(3872), Y(4260), Z+(4430),,,, • Yb–exotic state of b-bbar • Other states • Baryons with charm/bottom • Exotic nuclei/charmed pentaquark HQP09
already observed • newly observed prediction by conventional potential model (Godfrey et al., PRD43, 1679 (1991)) DsJPuzzle • Discrepancies with predictions forL=1 (0+ and 1+) states • Masses are smaller (~160 MeV) • Decay width are narrow • Below DK (D*K) threshold Something odd must happen!? K. Abe, Talk at PENTAQUARK04, July 20-23, 2004. HQP09
Theoretical Approaches • Conventional Ds? • Chiral effective theory -Harada-san’s talk • Potential model in HQET • QCD sum rule • Exotic states? • Tetraquark • Meson molecule • Lattice • Important as model independent analyses -Namekawa-san’s talk There is no framework which everyone satisfies. Hard to explain all experimental information; Mass, decay width, branching ratio,,,, HQP09
Hidden Charm and Bottom • Many exotic events are discovered by Belle and BaBar • X(3872)–observed in B decay • Y(4260)–observed in initial state radiation (ISR) • Z+(4430)–ccud -may be pure exotic state? • Yb • M=10889.6 MeV, R=54.7 MeV • First evidence of exotic state including b-bbar quarks -Uehara-san’s talk -Uglov-san’s talk - - ・・・ -Lee-san’s talk If these are tetraquark, charged partners should be observed. Anyway, we see a quite rich structure for heavy hadron. Other new states will be discovered even in future. HQP09
Heavy Quarkonium • pNRQCD framework is reviewed by Sumino-san • Powerful to estimate quarkonium spectra • Can well explain bottomonium spectra (except hb(1S)?) • Lattice • Heavy quark potential in pNRQCD • Using relativistic heavy quark (RHQ) action • Conventional charmonium spectra are shown in detail. -Koma-san’s talk -Namekawa-san’s talk -Uglov-san’s talk HQP09
Other Spectra • New B and Bs mesons • B1(5720), Bs2*(5839),,, at Tevatron (‘06) • Single charmed/bottom baryon • Sc(2800), Xc+/0(2980), Xc+/0(3077) at B-factory (’05, ‘06) • Sb(5810), Sb*(5833), Xb-(5793) at Tevatron (‘07) • Double charmed baryon • Xcc+(3520) from SELEX (‘02) • Charmed Pentaquark • predicted as Qc(2570) -Harada-san’s talk • DN and BN bound states • predicted as DN (B.E.: 1.4MeV) and BN (B.E.: 9.4MeV) New heavier states will be discovered at B-factory/LHC. - - -Yasui-san’s talk HQP09
Medium Effects • Mass Shift of Charmonium • Predicted ~10 MeV mass shift • Feasibility at J-PARC is discussed. • D and B mesons in medium • Attractive force between D/B and N expect D/B nuclei with large baryon number!? • Hard to detect at J-PARC at present status • We need further investigation both theoretically and experimentally. -S.H.Lee-san’s talk -Ohnishi-san’s talk - - - -Yasui-san’s talk -Ohnishi-san’s talk HQP09
CP Physics • Physics of CP violation is a main topic at Belle. • D0-D0bar mixing • Evidence of D0-D0bar mixing is found. • Possibility of new physics beyond the standard model is discussed. • Distribution Amplitude • LCDA of B meson is calculated in order of O(as) and dim.6 operator. • Useful to discuss CP physics through exclusive B decay -Itoh-san’s talk -Nishikawa-san’s talk HQP09
Production and Decay • HQET, (p)NRQCD • Useful to estimate cross section and decay width. • Systematic treatment of higher order corrections • Charm cross section near threshold • pQCD with PDFs and FFs • Important to study medium effects (as a reference) • Intrinsic charm distribution is moderate. • HQ FFs have large uncertainties due to the lack of data -Kiyo-san’s talk -Uglov-san’s talk HQP09
Summary • Many new spectra have been discovered. • Heavy quark physics becomes a hot topic more and more in future. • It is important to discuss from various points of view; particle, hadron, nuclear physics. • Hope to • keep a community and/or workshop • go on discussing each other • obtain interesting results HQP09
