  2. History of Chinese Shadow Puppetry • Long times ago, in Han dynasty the best wife of emperor died by illness. The emperor loved her so much that he couldn’t even get too work. He was thinking of his wife. Everyone tried to help the emperor. However, nothing worked. One day, one priest saw the doll puppetry and had a idea. So he showed the life of her wife with a puppetry. The emperor was so delightful. This is the reason that the Chinese Shadow Puppetry was made.

  3. By hand it is hard to understand the shape of the animal or a person, but in shadow it is easy to see. What do they look like?

  4. How are they made? • They used donkey’s skin to make the dolls • They were designed by cutting holes. • It was very thin.

  5. What kind of story do they perform? • At first, the people showed the emperor show about his wife’s life. • Now days, it talks about Chinese life.
