(as of Feb. 2010)
The State of Cartridge for Removable Media in Medicine • Use case of the removable media - Physician’s personal archive (e.g. For profound study / Memorial operation) - Pre/Post operation conference (e.g. Study / Planning / Education / Informed consent) - Backup of the data from a hard disk drive - Reviewing/Importing therapeutic history of referred patient Need to handle easily • Desirable prerequisite - To handle without minding the surface dirt of the disc. (e.g. In case of loading to drive / ejecting from drive / carrying / keeping) - Not to break even if receiving a strong shock by a fall. The media which have the cartridge have been used. • The cartridge shapes of the existing media - The shapes are all different by each kinds of media (BD, UDO, MO and DVD-RAM etc.)

(Shape of the cartridge can be freely designed) - To handle without damaging the surface of the disc. - For user, it is possible to keep the compatibility with existing assets (environment to use equipments). - For manufacturer, it is possible to reduce the cost of cartridge by reusing the existing tooling. (2) The cartridge shall have the mechanism to remove the disc. - Media exchange in a state of the bare disc is mandatory. - Recording/playback environment will be spread out. (3) DICOM Reader shall be able to read the disc w/o cartridge
