Advanced DiplomaStudents may earn an Advanced Diploma by earning the required standard and verified units29 CREDITS/ 9 VERIFIEDStandard Diploma25 CREDITS/ 6 VERIFIED(Basic differences- no foreign language requirement, one less English class, one less math class, one less verified credit in math, science, and history)In 4 years, take 8 classes/year= 32 credits

  10. Staying on Track-Pass your classes! If you fail a required class, you will have to repeat the class. SOLs- They count!! Take them seriously and do your best. You will have the opportunity to retake ones that you fail.

  11. If you are struggling, GET HELP!ASK- teachers, counselors, administrators, parents, someone!!!BE RESPONSIBLE!!!!!PARENTS:Remember to keep up with your child’s grades with Parent Portal!

  12. Schedules-Guidance will adjust/fix schedules for things such as: • Student has less than 8 classes • Student has already taken a class ex. Algebra/ Spanish • Missing a core class- English, math, science, history • Missing Health & P.E. 9 • Needing, but missing Spanish or French • Want to change to a Pre AP class or want to be removed from a Pre AP class (all core subjects have the option of Pre AP)

  20. School/Class Attendance • VA Compulsory Attendance Laws • 6 unexcused = Attendance Contract • 7 unexcused = Truancy Referral to Juvenile Intake • Classroom • 2+ unexcused = 69 grade. • Must be present for 50% of class (45 min) • Excessive tardiness to school/class will not be tolerated.

  21. Cell Phones • Phones are allowed in the building during non-instructional time. In the classroom, cell phones are only allowed during instruction as directed by the teacher. • Bring Your Own Device

  22. Disrespect/Defiance • Disrespect or defiance of staff members will not be tolerated. • Violations will warrant an out of school suspension.

  23. Bullying • Any form of bullying will not be tolerated • (physical, verbal, written) • Cyberbullying (electronic) • Cyberbaiting (viral videos) *Disciplinary sanctions will be harsh.

Dress Code • Students’ dress/appearance shall not disrupt or distract students from the educational process. • Clothing representing or displaying drugs, alcohol, or gangs will not be allowed. • Shorts, dresses, and/or skirts cannot be more than five inches above the knee. • No holes in jeans above the knee • Shoulders must be covered
