Hurricane Plan 101 • HOMEPORT has the entire plan for review • homeport.uscg.mil --- Checklist’s with recommendations provided • Seasonal Alert is 01 June until 30 Nov • MSIB’s will be used to update status and conditions (ANICS and Homeport) • Authority:Under the Ports and waterways safety act (33USC1221) as implemented by 33CFR parts 6 and 160, the COTP may direct the handling, loading, storage and movement on any structure or shore area on or in the navigable waters of the US. The COTP may also order a vsl to operate or anchor in the manner directed when the determination is made that such an order is justified by reason of weather…. • Four conditions: Whiskey-72 hours, X-Ray-48 hours, Yankee-24 hours, Zulu-12 hours. • The best option is to ride the storm out at sea.
