Construction Gateway innovation 10 FE Colleges working collaboratively delivering a regional offer covering the whole of the WMCA Specialist Independent Training Providers working alongside FE Colleges to meet the regional skills gaps employers and CITB have identified Employer led solutions to addressing skills shortages Employers support from key regional employers – Balfour Beatty, Laing Murphy JV, Wilmott Dixon, Midland Metro Alliance, Lendlease
Construction Gateway CSF CITB on site hubs Contracts with CITB to provide on site training hubs for partner employers on key regional projects – Smart Motorways, Common wealth Games, HS2, regional housing projects Employer sponsored training hubs providing both skills and real life work experience to new entrants to the Construction Sector but also giving training providers to offer upskilling to existing employees through CITB grant funding Both major employer and SME supply chain participation Influence on solutions using key stakeholders with a vacancy led approach focused on the skill and resource gaps
Construction Skills funding – Adult Education Budget From August 2019 the WMCA will have responsibility for the devolved Adult Education Budget Responsiveness for FE sector to support residents to be work ready Agility for FE sector to meet the often mixed and demanding requirements alongside an agile independent provider base covering the skills needs for the region To deliver vocational/technical mixed content programmes based upon employer requirements including boot camp extensions where appropriate
Construction Skills – Access to European Social Funding Supporting employers to access European Social Funding and for it to be complimentary to other funding streams WMCA Local Authorities supporting employers to deliver their social value obligations, being supportive at all times
