Experiences in life can affect the person you are; not the person you were meant to be. This belief has helped us to change the life of every boy who has come to Hanna Boys Center, since we opened our doors in 1945. It takes work. Good things don’t come easily. But good things do happen. At Hanna, we’re here to help. With a lot of support, a lot of understanding, and a lot of guidance.

Residential Treatment Sonoma County The boys live in residences on-campus comprising cottages and group homes. Each residence has four youth counselors over-seen by a coordinator. Residence staff work 3-1/2 day shifts, sleeping in their assigned residence. In addition to serving as role models, our youth counselors help each boy develop socially appropriate behaviors—from using good table manners, maintaining personal hygiene and making a bed—to fulfilling assigned chores. Boys are also taught a variety of life skills, including cooking, budgeting, finding employment, and preparing for life away from a protected environment. Cottages: Each cottage has semi-private bedrooms (two boys to a room), bathrooms, a living room, game room, study area with access to computers, laundry, and a kitchenette. For cottage residents, meals are served in the campus dining hall. Group Homes: Each group home has semi-private bedrooms (two boys to a room), bathrooms, a living room, game room, study area with access to computers, laundry, a kitchen and a dining room where boys prepare and enjoy their meals. 17000 Arnold Drive, Sonoma, CA 95476-0100 Telephone: 707.996.6767 | Toll Free: 1.877.994.2662 | FAX : 707.996.4742
Group meetings and other activities in the residences encourage the boys to communicate openly with each other, respect one another and treat each other well. A coordinator is either on-campus or on-call at all times and is able to provide additional support to the boys as needed. Guided by the core values of nurturing the mind, the body and the spirit, it transforms our boys into productive, healthy, compassionate young men. What Is Hanna Boys Center? Hanna Boys Center is a residential treatment center with an on-campus accredited high school, Archbishop Hanna High School, serving 8th through 12th grade students. The majority of Hanna's boys come from multi-traumatic backgrounds of abuse—including emotional, physical, and sexual—and neglect. A typical Hanna boy has experienced difficulties at home, fallen behind in school for various reasons, and struggled with interpersonal relationships. These experiences have created strained family dynamics, as well as academic and social relationship issues. Many of our boys come from underserved and impoverished communities, most of them in Northern California. Boys who choose to attend Hanna have to show a level of desire, motivation, and resilience in order to put forth their best effort in making positive changes in their lives. Families are also required to have a high level of involvement in their child's placement, including attending parenting groups, family therapy sessions, and home visits. Boys must agree to stay one full school year. The average length of stay is 18 months; however a boy may stay longer if it is best for him to do so. 17000 Arnold Drive, Sonoma, CA 95476-0100 Telephone: 707.996.6767 | Toll Free: 1.877.994.2662 | FAX : 707.996.4742
