  9. What is the Fear of God? Fear of God is not to be understood as simply faith in God. Abraham proved this. The fear of God is just that, the fear of God. The fear of God is not being afraid of God. It is a genuine fear and awe of His majesty, power, authority. Isaiah 6.5: Then I said, “Woe is me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.”

For I have placed the sand as a boundary for the sea, an eternal decree, so it cannot cross over it. Though the waves toss, yet they cannot prevail; Though they roar, yet they cannot cross over it.’”

  11. What is the Fear of God? Luke 12.4-5: “And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will warn you whom to fear: fear the One who after He has killed has authority to cast into hell; yes, I tell you, fear Him!”

  12. 2 Chronicles 19.5-7: And [Jehoshaphat] appointed judges in the land in all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city. And he said to the judges, “Consider what you are doing, for you do not judge for man but for the LORD who is with you when you render judgment. “Now then let the fear of the LORD be upon you; be very careful what you do, for the LORD our God will have no part in unrighteousness, or partiality, or the taking of a bribe.” What is the Fear of God? Their fear of God would compel the judges to be righteous.
