EC Lesson Plans • Why???The No Child Left Behind Act requires that all students, including those with the most significant cognitive disabilities, have access to the standard course of study at grade level. HOW DO WE PROVE THAT?? • Lenoir County Policy 3120 • Alignment with IEP Goals/NCSCOS
Daily/Weekly HS can change subjects Write out goals Here or goals sheet Competency Goal 1: The learner will develop and apply enabling strategies and skills to read and write. Summary Non-negotiable “Tight” • District-Wide implementation March 15th • MUST include NCSCOS/Extensions (write out competency goal) • MUST include IEP goals (abbreviate; state skill/concepts) • MUST be accessible in class for review Negotiable “Loose” • Daily/Weekly • IEP goals on LP or separate goal sheet • Allows for school initiatives, (SIOP, HOB, etc.) flexible for subject insertion
Reminders • Lesson Plans provide important documentation to support compliance with IDEA • Inclusion/Co-Teaching- Lesson Plans MUSTinclude YOUR part…Thisis the specialized instruction!!! • Use additional notes section to reflect on progress, note lessons needing reteaching, etc • Format is universal enough to allow for school initiatives; teaching style • Good Rule of Thumb: If a sub can pick up your lesson plan and teach from it, then it probably is a good plan. • You have our support in this process!!
