1.Introduction • Institutions responsible /deals with corruption in Ethiopia are :- • Federal Ethics and anti Corruption Commission • Federal Police Commission • Regional anti Corruption Commission • Under the current Reform ,FEACC is directly accountable to FDRE parliament . • FEACC has two big branches ( Diredawa and addis Ababa)
Public participation is key and essential for the Fight against corruption. Based on this :- • Under the FEACC Establishment proclamation , FEACC had given a mandate of Mobilizing Societies in the fight against corruption through awareness creation and synthesizing programs. • The proclamation also clearly indicated that FEAC has a mandate to Mobilizing and engaging with stakeholders , Ethics officers , Civil Societies and Ethics clubs in the fight against Corruption
2.mandate of The Directorate • Based On the mandate given to the FEACC , FEACC has Established a separate Directorate Called Ethics infrastructure Coordinating directorate that deals with :- • Identifying • Coordinating • Advising and • Supporting Civil Societies in the fight against Corruption and promoting Ethics across the Society • support regions to work closely with civil societies in the fight against Corruption .
2.key Functions of Civil societies on the area of anti corruption • Creating awareness and Provide training Continually on Ethics and anti Corruption areas to :- • Their Members • Local societies • Government Employees and leaders • Communities • In collaboration with Other stake holders , Preparing and Conducting different discussion Forums
Playing an Advocate role on Effect of Corruption on democracy , Economic and Social aspect of Ethiopia • Providing corruption offense information to pertinent organization and Good governance issues to the attention of Government .
Involving on international and National anti Corruption reviewing process ( 1st and 2nd cycle ) • Involving on various anti corruption studies and anti corruption assessment • in General, they are involve in • Ethics education • Corruption Prevention • Asset Registration and declaration system
3. Civil Societies and stakeholders managed by the Directorate • 1national anti corruption coalition Forum chaired by house speaker / prime minister • 1National Executive Committee for anti Corruption coalition Forum chaired by house speaker / his representatives/ • 10 sub anti Corruption coalition /all are civil societies /

Working Procedure with Civil Societies • Our directorate has established :- • 1 national anti corruption charter , • 10 Sub anti corruption Coalition engagement guide lines , • Plan and Report Formats • Anti Corruption Clubs establishment guide line • Anti corruption forums Guide line • Civic society anti corruption engagement strategy / on the Process/ • Children and Youth Ethics embedment strategy / officially launched /
4. key success / achievement • Corruption became center of Public Agenda (through awareness and engaging of civil societies). • Anti corruption programs were mainstreamed to Civil societies agenda • Inclusion of ethics in national education curriculum . • Created a continuous joint discussion platform for FEACC and Civil Socities.
5. key Challenges of FEACC • Interims of Civil societies number , Limited engagement of Civil societies in the fight against corruption . • Lack of Continuous financial support to strengthen the engagement of civil societies against corruption • Media role in the fight against corruption is low • Limited Government Financial support • Linking Civil societies with ideology and political interference

Potential areas of intervention from world Bank • Launching Financial support • To support capacity building on Federal and Regional Civil societies on various Issues • Support the National anti Corruption coalition forum • Support for Establishing major Regional anti corruption coalitions • Afar regional state • Benshangul Gumuz • Harer Regional state • Diredewa administrative • Somalia regional anti corruption Coalition • Gambela Regional state etc
