NEP 2020 A Revolution in Education • NEP 2020 has been praised for its new innovative approach towards Indian Education. • Even several members of the opposition have applauded the NEP. • On paper it seems to be extremely innovative and something that has the potential to change everything.  • The NEP 2020 aims to lay emphasis on the frequently ignored concept of critical learning and thinking. • The New education Policy has decided to put an end to the stagnating attribute of rote learning and memorizing. • Practical appliance of knowledge will gain stellar importance with the help of this plan. • The policy has also encouraged schools to motivate students to dwell into reading and inculcating a library culture within the school curriculum. • In a significant shift from the 1986 policy, which pushed for a 10+2 structure of school education, the new NEP pitches for a “5+3+3+4” design corresponding to the age groups 3-8 years (foundational stage), 8-11 (preparatory), 11-14 (middle), and 14-18 (secondary). • This brings early childhood education (also known as pre-school education for children of ages 3 to 5) under the ambit of formal schooling. The mid-day meal programme will be extended to pre-school children. • The NEP says students until Class 5 should be taught in their mother tongue or regional language.

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyalon NEP 2020 • Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ stated that India’s new National Education Policy (NEP) is based on concepts of equity, quality and accessibility. • The testimony was recorded last Friday. • The minister also cited the country’s “diverse” nature in terms of regional languages to stress the benefits of having primary education in a child’s mother tongue.

The Future that awaits Indian Students • It is safe to say that NEP 2020 is a policy that can completely change the face of the education system. • Indian students have a lot of potential and are the most favored candidates when it comes to filling seats in a myriad of universities abroad. • The NEP is going to put an end to a stagnated education system and revive practical knowledge. • With the self assessment system called PARAKH, students will have to evaluate themselves at the end of every semester. • Such a process of introspection will help students grow as responsible citizens. • The introduction of vocational courses will help Indian students respect people belonging to all professions. • Technical skills of the future such as coding and other software skills are also going to be encouraged.
