Fr David – the priest • Humble - said “thank you” often and sincerely • Humorous – mimic and story teller (sermons) • Charismatic – embraced all, reckless generosity • Spiritual – inspiring faith • Acted justly • Loved tenderly • Walked humbly with his God
L’ Arche • Founder - Jean Vanier 1964 • Ecumenical roots • Embraces individuals with learning disabilities • Today: 135 communities in 35 countries • Two Scottish communities – Edinburgh and Inverness
David Gemmell Living Memorial Fund - Aim • Place people with learning disabilities at the heart of our society • We need to build communities of love (Fr. David) • Contribute to a new L’Arche home or facility named in memory of Fr. David – the person, the priest
