  1. Gender equality By: Cass Miller, Sara Schnuettgen, And Macie Sorensen!

  2. Definition! • It is a equal representation of women and men. doesn't mean that women and men are the same, but that they have equal value and should be accorded equally • . The United Nations regard gender equality as a human Equal pay for equal work is one of the areas where gender equality is rarely seen. Mainly, women are paid less than men for doing the same work.

  3. The Goal! • To have men and women be equal. • Target by 2005: • To have woman and men have the same jobs and have them get paid the same • Target by 2015:Eliminate gender disparity at all levels of education by 2015 and empower women.

  4. Why it’s a goal! • Men outnumber women in paid employment • Education remains elusive for girls in most countries • Poverty is a major road block in education • Top-level jobs go to men way to much • We want to get rid of extreme poverty • Girls need to have the same chance as boys do

  5. Problems the world is having with Gender Equality! • Men continue to outnumber women in the paid workforce • Women are paid less because they are women • We have problems with getting women into power

  6. Progress with this goal! • Men still outnumber the women in paid employment in every developing region besides the CIS • Top level jobs still go to men  • Women are slowly rising to political power • Education is still not really available  to girls in some regions

  7. Success Story • Today, Rwanda has the highest number of women in parliamentarians in the world with women creating nearly 50 percent in the Chamber of Deputies and about 35 percent in the Senate
