Our Philosophy • Use the great sport of lacrosse to teach & learn life lessons • Make it our habit each day to be accountable to get better • Have fun while passionately competing at the highest level! • Foster a lasting culture that team = family • Past. Present. Future • Winning games is important • Developing responsible leaders is the most important “I am only one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And what I can do, I ought to do. And what I ought to do, by the grace of God, I shall do.”

We All Have a Role Coaches Players Parents • Each day, make a positive impact on a player • Know where “winning” is in the priorities (not the same at all levels) • Composed sideline demeanor • Be constantly engaged • Represent the program honorably • Demand accountability, discipline & teamwork • Be organized and timely • Create fair and open competition • Communicate our philosophy • Technically & strategically competent • Have fun! • Set the team's goals early in the off-season, then hold each other accountable • Demonstrate sportsmanship and respect • Maintain academic eligibility • 100% accountability at all team functions, on time • Work hard and dedicate yourself to your team • Compete constantly to make yourself and teammates better • Accept coaching (try to make the changes to do it the right way) • Leave a legacy others aspire to • Have fun! • Model of sportsmanship and respect • Respectful behavior in the stands • Support 100% accountability and commitment to the team, on time • Support team and booster club • Find a place to volunteer • Problems?   4. Attendance • 100% of games, practices, workouts and team gatherings are to be attended • Intentional unexcused absences result in a loss of playing time • Unexcused absence = any absence that is: • Preventable • Not communicated to a coach in advance • Player’s history…

  5. Begins next Monday, Sept 16, @ 6:45-7:45am on Mon, Weds & Fri with Coach Tom Lopresti & Lacrosse staff Consistency & camaraderie for players and coaches Stick skills “wall ball” – bring your stick and a tennis ball!! Captains Practices periodically Lifting & Conditioning

Player Conduct • Always represent our program in a positive manner • Any behavior contrary to school Code of Conduct will not be tolerated • Zero Tolerance Policy: • Alcohol • Illegal Drugs • Performance Enhancing Drugs Players will sign a team contract Would your decision pass the “newspaper test”?

Academics & Eligibility • Take care of your grades as first priority • 5:30pm practice time each day should allow for tutoring, test extra-time, etc. • No mandatory study table • Players do not practice during ineligible periods, but are welcome and expected back when eligible again Academics are a HUGE component of college recruiting

Indoor Lacrosse (optional) $180 per player 2 or 3 St Charles teams (15 players per team) Begins: end of October (continues for 15 weeks) Location: likely a combination between the Continent and Easton Coach Berndt collecting names, determining rosters Registrations turned in to Coach Berndt OSU 7-v-7 (optional) $55 per player ~ 15 players Nov 2 (all day) Coach Berndt collecting names and determining rosters. Then… OSU: individually register for St. Charles team on-line Denison: register @ event Indoor & 7-v-7’s • Denison 7-v-7 (optional) • $55 per player • ~ 15 players • Nov 10 (all day)

Important Off-Season Dates • Sept 16 – Start of Off-season Lifting Program • Oct 4 – Names for 7-v-7 due to Coach Berndt (Coach will then • determine rosters) • mid Oct – Online registration deadline for OSU 7-v-7 • Nov 2 – OSU 7-v-7 • Nov 10 – Denison 7-v-7 • Oct 4 – Names for Indoor due to Coach Berndt • End of Oct – Indoor lacrosse begins

Important In-Season Dates • Feb 24 - First Practice • Practice Time: 5:30 – 7:30 pm • We will practice on Saturdays • Mar 1 - Saturday “2-a-day” • Mar 23 - Meet the Team potluck • Apr 17-27 - School Spring Break • No Varsity practice 4/17-21. Practice 4/22. Trip 4/23-4/26 • No JV practice 4/17-4/24. Likely practice 4/25. Likely game 4/26 • May 18 - Spring Sports Banquet • Jun 7 - State Championship game • Jun 8 - Alumni Game & off-site Team Picnic

College Recruiting • How Do I Get Recruited? • Don’t pay for a recruiting service • Know the differences between DI, DII & DIII • DI = 12.6 team scholarships (DII = 10.8) • Know the key process dates www.ncaa.org • Tell your colleges where you are playing! • Summer Club Teams • Be realistic about cost vs. benefit • Different methods for different costs • Who is the coach? • Other Individual Events • 7v7, Buckeye Top 100, Max Elite 100 • Highlight Film • youtube link in an email • 2-3 minute highlights, then a game • Do I Want to Play in College? • Go through enough of the process to keep your options open your senior year • “Why do you want to play college lacrosse?” • Have several tiers of school options • “What if lacrosse didn’t work out?” • There is a college fit for most players who put in the work to be the best they can be • How Do I Get Recruited? • Must proactively self-recruit • Get high school coach involved • Get good grades! • Take your ACT/SAT tests early & often • Be a multiple sport athlete!
