About the Course • BUS220 – Elementary Statistics • Credits: 3 • Course Website: http://www.sophea.info/portal/Teaching/BUS220/tabid/59/Default.aspx • Prerequisite: MAT 100 or above; a working knowledge of the algebra used to manipulate & solve equations is essential. • Instructional method: weekly class meeting T (6:35 – 9:35)

  7. About the Course… • Grading Criteria: • Homework (Top 10) 15 • Three Exams 65 • Class Participation and in-class exercises 10 • Quizzes 10 Total 100 • Grade guideline: Refinements will be made as necessary

Professionalism • Be on time, be courteous and respect others • No cell phone, no food • No disruptive behaviors • If final grade is borderline between two letter grades professionalism will help • Academic Integrity • First offense – zero for the grade in question • Second offense – Fail grade for the course

About the Course… • Take the time to read the syllabus. • For each chapter: • Read the assigned chapter • Attend the weekly class meeting, pay attention, and prepare to ask questions. • Complete Homework assignment as soon as it is assigned. • Turn in assignment by the deadline. Don’t forget to sign in for each class

  11. Why the course? • Numerical information is everywhere • Statistical techniques are used to make decisions that affect our daily lives • No matter what your career is, you will make professional decisions that involve data • It is a required course
