Overview • Photography provides a unique and powerful voice for art expression. This course introduces you to the artistic qualities of photography; you will also gain proficient technical skills in this artistic medium. We will look at the history and timeline of photography. We will also look closely at many pioneers in the photography industry.
Topics • Camera Basics • Composition • Principles and elements • Different types of photography • Photo editing • Photo altering
Expectations: • Demonstrate respect to the teacher and classmates • Put 100% effort into your work • Clean up after yourself • No talking while the teacher is talking • Use your time wisely • Be creative and have fun • Come prepared: bring camera and computer to class everyday
Assessment: • Through the trimester, there will be a number of projects and assignments. We will be doing most work in class; however, there will be assignments in which you need to take pictures outside of campus. • Your grade will come from the following: • Projects • Assignments • Gallery Visit Write ups • Photographer report
Gallery Visits: • You will be required visit specific photography exhibitions that will be announced later.
Goals: • Class will determine the goals for this course.
