What makes a good photo GREAT? • Ideas????
What makes a good photo GREAT? • Ms. Atkins’ ideas • Story behind the picture (place/event) • Being able to “feel” the emotion • LIGHTING • Good composure (rule of thirds) • Perfect exposure (using the big three right)
Light • Outdoor photography can be a tricky • Always look for harsh shadows-Sun creates hard light • To reduce shadows try to keep your back to the sun • Shoot when light is RIGHT (the golden hour) • Move! LOOK FOR GOOD LIGHT!
Rule of Thirds Imagine breaking an image down into thirds (both horizontally and vertically) so that you have 9 parts.
Rule of Thirds With this grid in mind the ‘rule of thirds’ identifies four important parts of the image that you should consider placing points of interest in as you frame your image
Rule of Thirds Studies have shown that when viewing images that people’s eyes usually go to one of the intersection points most naturally rather than the center of the shot – using the rule of thirds works with this natural way of viewing an image rather than working against it.
Pay attention to composition! Rule of thirds. Don’t plop subjects in the middle of the photo.
Pay attention to composure.Pay attention to items in the foreground.
Pay attention to lighting!Use natural light to your advantage.
